Theory Goes Sustainable with Good Wool

By Lucky Garcia on November 8, 2017

Contemporary fashion label, Theory joins the sustainable fashion movement with their new line, Good Wool.

Theory believes that building a sustainable wardrobe in menswear is to start small and with your suit. Enter Good Wool.

With the womenswear collection launched some weeks back, the new menswear line also features a sustainable fabric using sourced wool from a family-owned farm in Australia which is spun in an eco-friendly mill. We’re seeing more and more the use of artisans and smaller farms in ethical apparel production.

Why are these suits good for the planet? In addition to using sustainably sourced textiles, Good Wool suits utilize biodegradable lining, buttons made from corozo nuts, and recycled paper hang tags.

In the past the brand has heavily relied on wool in its collections, however a shift such as this will have a major impact on the brand’s carbon footprint.

In a recent interview Theory’s CEO and founder, Andrew Rosen, explained the importance of eco-friendly clothing.,“We want to support our environment, and our planet. If we can do a little bit more each year, that’s great. And if we’re doing it, hopefully others will follow.” Most recently Stella McCartney, H&M, Mango, Gucci and Prada have began to use recycled fibers, organic silk and new sources of textiles.
