E-Commerce Beauty RoundUp: Teen Choice Awards Beauty Recap

By Jenny Geisman on August 16, 2013

The Teen Choice Awards is the true kick off to awards season, as its red carpet looks set the trends for back-to-school styles. Here are our top two beauty winners of the night.

Selena Gomez stole the night as winner in several categories including: Choice Music Star, Choice Hottie and Choice Breakup Song. But, it was her sophisticated style that really took our breath away. Celebrity makeup artist Karan Mitchell created the former Disney starlet’s stunning red carpet elegance; here are our product picks to get her look.

NARS Cosmetics

Ditching the skanky, anti-G-rated look that most post-Disney gals choose, Selena’s makeup was chic and super Hollywood catwalk. To get the look, begin with NARS Sheer Matte Foundation ($44.00) to control shine (did you see Miley Cyrus’s forehead?) and even out skin tone. This oil-free, soft-matte-finish foundation is formulated with NARS Complexion Brightening Formula to create a dewy complexion that looks radiant on the awards runway.

By using the color scheme of the NARS Fairy’s Kiss Eye Shadow Palette ($45) it will bring out dark eyes with soft hues for a classy grace, which can be worn day or evening throughout the fall season. The palette is the perfect canvas for a subtle cat eye, like the one Selena wore.

We love NARS’ Foreplay Orgasm Palette ($49.00) because you can swiftly combine all the shades or cherry pick one depending on your mood. Each color provides your cheeks with a just-flushed look like you’ve been out on a crisp, fall morning walk. The palette includes the brand’s bestselling Orgasm Blush, Peach Matte Blush, Gold Highlighting Blush and Pink Matte Blush.

Lips are just as important as eyes when it comes to the paparazzi proofs. Mitchell opted for the beautiful mauve-peach Larger Than Life Lip Gloss ($26), which allowed Selena’s eyes to be the most prominent feature and complement her green dress. The Paris Follies shade gave Selena’s lips fullness, shine and stayed-in-place throughout the evening.

Our second beauty winner of the night was Lucy Hale. Lucy walked away with the Choice Summer TV Star award the other night. As the new face of mark. cosmetics, Lucy will also be the spokesperson for the m.powerment by mark campaign, the brand’s effort dedicated to breaking the cycle of dating abuse and partner violence against young women.

mark. celebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles created  the Teen Choice Awards host’s a la natural mien, using makeup products that enhanced her girl-next-door look.

The Got the Goods Multi-Benefit Foundation Lotion SPF 15 ($18) will not only give your skin tone a polished finish, but the formulation will protect it while under the hot Hollywood lighting. This liquid foundation includes orange and lemon extracts, super fruits rich in vitamin C and sources of alpha hydroxy acid and willow bark (a super food known to make skin look firmer and tighter), all of which nourish the skin and improve tone and elasticity. In addition, the radiant glow will defend skin, as the foundation features SPF 15 broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

A pimple here or there is always a bummer, especially on your big night. Stiles opted for the saving-grace Save The Day Anti-Acne Concealer Stick ($10) to keep blemishes at bay and cover any that popped up prior to Lucy’s big night. The oil-free concealer clears, covers and fights acne with key ingredient salicylic acid (2%).

For Lucy’s fresh, suburban look, try Just Blushing Powder Blush ($9) in Charmed or Love Spell. A light-weight, pressed powder, the blush feels silky smooth and easily blends into cheeks.

Noteworthy Products

  • Lily Collins retro-Audrey Hepburn updo held in place with L’Oréal Elnett Strong Hold Hairspray ($6.99).

  • The sexy waves Naya Rivera donned were fuzz-free because John Frieda Frizz-Ease Serum ($9.99) was applied to damp hair first.

  • Bella Thorne’s lashes were transformed to appear super-long, full and defined with Flower Zoom-In Ultimate Mascara ($8).

  • Hailee Steinfeld showed her support of the anti-bullying “pinky promise” by boasting Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27) in Blue Satin on her pinky nail.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the award season holds for beauty.
