Ferragamo: A Shoe-in Artist

By Alessia Mocella on May 29, 2013

Top fashion house Ferragamo, renowned for its classic and Italianate styles, is exhibiting the roots of shoemaking with distinguished cartoonist Frank Espinosa. To entertain its consumers, the brand will present a graphic novel, a Ferragamo exhibit and a short film.

Espinosa was asked to fulfill the job of rendering the curious life of Salvatore Ferragamo artistically with a 26-page graphic novel that will sell for $9. It is titled Making of a Dream and illustrates the journey Ferragamo took in creating his legacy in fashion that was inspired by his upbringing. Some images are on display at the Ferragamo flaship store in New York and are synonymous with the brand’s continuing exhibition The Amazing Shoemaker. The Museo Salvatore Ferragamo has reveled in a successful year-long exhibit with an impressive audience who admire the special-edition archived shoes and accessories gathered by the creative team. In tandem with the shoe display is a collection of original Frank Espinosas and other pieces dedicated to exhibit from around the world, for Ferragamo.

There is a microsite that offers insight into the exhibit and film about the origins of shoemaking for those who are interested. The short film is an adaptation of Ferragamo’s inspiration from the legends of shoemaking to become the idyllic shoe designer the brand is today. Below is the trailer for White Shoe a nice short, which gives historical and cultural value to the Ferragamo shoe. Wouldn’t it be nice to own a nice piece of luxury Italian shoes? Almost makes you not want to wear them!
