The latest app to spring into our social media landscape is Vine. This app was developed by the guys at Twitter and released to the public in January 2013. Essentially, Vine is a video Instagram, with a similar point-shoot-post-like-comment set up. You can capture and shoot up to six seconds of video, either all in one segment or split into mini clips, of your choosing. Some creative “Viners” have even created stop motion movies.

Of course, all our favorite brands, bloggers and publishers have jumped on the bandwagon. Check out Leandra Medine (@manrepeller), fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff (@RebeccaMinkoff) and GQ Magazine (@GQMagazine) – who have all been posting their favorite catwalk action clips for us to see! Designers and showgoers alike are adding the hashtag #NYFW or #fashion to share their experiences, runway highlights and other fab elements of fashion’s most talked about week. Other dedicated Viners you can socially seek include: style reporter for The Wall Street Journal, editorial director of The Cut and Huffington Post Style.

Vine gives users the ability to share the experience of NYFW in a way that far exceeds photos on Instagram or Twitter. You can see the step-by-step preparations for shows, models strutting down the runway and hear the music pumping like never before. It really brings the full essence of fashion week to social media.
So, what does this mean for fashion addicts out there? Well, how many brands, magazines, bloggers, models and designers do you follow on Twitter or Instagram? Here’s another platform to add to the list.
Vine is free and currently available on iOS.
