Are you waiting for the validation to wear bright metallic eyeshadow and be considered fashionable and not tragic? How many times have you been seduced by various sparkly shades of metallic eyeshadow at the make-up counter, only to leave with a neutral brown or beige? Well ladies, if you have ever felt this way, your time has come. Silver shimmer is gracing us this season and it’s okay to say yes!
Chanel’s Spring 2013 runway show sold the statement makeup look, even to the skeptics. The models eased down the runway with bold silver shadow and dramatic black-lined cat eyes, impossible to miss.
The trick to making this eyeshadow trend work, is to keep all other makeup as simple as possible. The metallic eye should be the star of your entire look, wardrobe included. That means a pale pink, or nude lip, little to no blush and clean mascara.
In this Makeup Tutorial video, from Monsiieur Alex, you will learn the exact steps to re-create the Chanel Spring 2013 Runway look!
We have broken down the steps, so you can easily follow:
- Start with MAC Paint Pot in “Painterly” to cover eyelids.
- Take Maybelline Color Eye Tattoo in “Too Cool” and use your finger to blend all over lids, brow bone and inner corners. Make sure to blend the color evenly.
- Using a large flat top eyeshadow brush, apply MAC Eyeshadow “All That Glitters” to the eyelid and brow bone.
- With an angled crease brush, apply Chanel Notorious Sculpting Veil for eyes and cheeks. Apply to the natural crease of your eye shape. Blend out evenly in a winged fashion.
- With a small eyeliner brush, apply MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack” to top and bottom lash lines creating a cat-eye effect. Take your time on the inner corners. The lines should be clean and sharp.
- For your waterlines, use MAC Eye Kohl Pencil in “Smolder.”
- Apply foundation to build a solid coverage over the face. Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation is preferable.
- To cover any further blemishes, apply MAC Studio Finish Concealer. This will aslo add brightness to under eye area.
- Set foundation with Lancome Dual Finish Powder Foundation.
- Using a contour brush, apply Chanel Notorious Sculpting Veil to cheek bones, frame of face and the bridge of the nose.
- Chanel Bronzer Powder should be applied over the same areas as well, to add a spring glow of color.
- Using a medium sized brush, apply Dior Powder Highlighter in “Amber Diamond” to the tops of the cheekbones, bridge of nose, center of forehead and center of chin to add luminosity.
- Using a blush brush, apply Chanel Joues Contraste to warm the face.
- For lips, MAC Lipstick in “Honey Love” can be used and if you like, you can add gloss for extra sheen.
- For lashes, finish eye look with Chanel “Le Colume De Chanel” Mascara.
- To complete the face, fill in brows with a pencil.
