Whether you’re on the lookout for a great deal, or you want a celebrity look for less, Dianna Baros from TheBudgetBabe.com has got you covered! Check out our interview with the queen of “fab without a fortune!”
FASHIONOTES: What inspired you to start a blog? What inspires you today to keep blogging?
Dianna: My husband (then boyfriend) suggested I start a blog to share all my fashion finds and bargains (instead of telling him about them all the time!). My readers and fellow bloggers inspire me to keep blogging, it’s the best community ever and we keep each other going. Fashion is always changing and there’s always a new twist around the corner so it keeps me on my toes.
FN: Why do you think it’s so important to have a blog dedicated to budget fashion?
D: Reality is most Americans don’t have the funds to spend a lot on fashion yet we’re expected to look a certain way for our jobs and countless other activities. Luckily, fashion is more affordable and accessible than ever before. I think bloggers fill an important role, sharing ideas and information and helping other real women from all walks of life look their best every day (without going into debt!)
FN: How do you use social media sites like Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter to talk about your style and your blog?
D: Facebook and Twitter let me interact with readers on the fly, sharing up to the moment information or deals. Pinterest is my new favorite place to share DIY ideas, recipes, and products I’m loving right now. Instagram lets me share images in real-time when I’m shopping or attending an event. It’s my way of connecting with readers and bringing them with me wherever I go, (which may sound strange but it’s true!)
FN: What do you think has been the best experience you’ve had since becoming a blogger?
D: Getting my credentials for the first time – as a blogger – for New York Fashion Week and attending my first runway show was indescribable. Sorry to sound sappy but it was truly a dream come true. Also, touring the MANGO headquarters in Spain was pretty awesome and unexpected!
FN: What are your aspirations as a blogger? Where do you hope to take your blog in the future?
D: My goal is to bring on a few writers to help build the site and make it a better resource for readers. At the same time, I want to keep the message the same and continue to give readers what they’ve come to expect.
