Luxury fashion brands continue to invest heavily in their presences on social media networks, and when it comes to newcomers, Instagram looks to be creating the most buzz. A new study by Simply Measured found that 40% of the brands listed on the Interbrand 100 are extremely interactive on Instagram. That’s not a bad start for a two-year-old app that is only accessible through a mobile platform.
That being said, we rounded up the top 5 luxury brands that are getting some solid engagement on Instagram:

1. Burberry
The British-based label ranks as the number one followed luxury fashion brand on Instagram. With 454,233 followers, 624 photographs and 1,230 likes, are we even that surprised? The company launched one of the most successful social media fashion projects last year with its #artofthetrench campaign, engaging with consumers taking photographs via Instagram wearing their iconic Burberry trench coats.

2. Nike
The sports and footwear brand ranks as number two with a total of 322,721 followers, 335 likes and 335 photographs on the account. They also recently launched a viral campaign using the #makeitcount hashtag, asking us all: “How will you make it count in 2012?”. The brand has definitely been leveraging online platforms to push the brand into a more digital direction.

3. Gucci
Being one of the first big fashion brands to use Instagram, Gucci has a total of 119,492 followers, 52 likes and 766 photographs. The Gucci team is fully committed to providing a range of photos from catwalk shows to behind-the-scenes snaps of celebrities, photo shoots, product images, and an insight into how the products and clothes are actually made.

4. Tiffany & Co.
Aside from their romantic photos, and breathtaking New York City skyline shots, the luxury jewelry brand is ranked at fourth place with a total of 103,356 followers, 159 likes and 1,676 photographs. Tiffany’s also recently launched the ‘What Makes Love True’ campaign, creating a social sharing initiative where users are able to submit videos, images and stories of their true love experience.
5. Hermès Birkin
While we’re all waiting for the day we can finally get our hands on a Birkin bag, in the meantime we can dream all we want through their Instagram account. The fashion brand has a total of 51,136 followers, 303 likes, and 281 uploaded photographs. Take to their page to find a constant feed of the hottest celebs rocking the label, and a reminder how jealous we are of each and every one of them.
