The new e-commerce website, Gimpse.com designs a personalized shopping directory based on your social media searches. It is a social shopping platform that combines Facebook ‘Likes’ and a series of data from social network friends to create custom catalog pages which help in the finding of new products that suit your taste and style.
As is common in digital media, items are presented in an image board format, and the online tools allow shoppers to pre-select and browse a unique collection of branded products.
The website uses the Facebook ‘Like’ button as a bookmark for content, so that Glimpse can allow users to browse products by style, brand, or retailer and make purchases directly through the platform. The website hosts over 550 million products from over 500,000 stores and online merchants. Glimpse is owned by Siva Kumar, who is also the CEO of umbrella company TheFind. In a recent interview he stated that,
“More than 100 million products online have ‘Like’ buttons, with the heaviest concentration of Liked items in fashion and design products. The data now exists to instantly personalize an interesting shopping experience for trending soft goods and present them in a format that is both truly social and entertaining.”
As fashion-focused websites take centre stage in our consumer universe, we are starting to see more innovation and collaborations.
