Behind the Scenes: Bijou-Vintage Couture

By Taylor Ferri on July 27, 2012

FASHIONOTES gets a behind the scenes look at Bijou-Vintage Couture as we discuss fashion, style and design with up-and-coming designer, Ale Ore.

FASHIONOTES: Tell us about Bijou-Vintage Couture?
Ale:
The line is a vintage inspired label that takes note  from the classic, whimsical era’s of the 1920’s through to the 1970’s.

FN: How did you get started with fashion and design?
A: I started as a makeup artist working for numerous Fashion Week shows in Toronto, Canada.  I quickly realized my love for design and fashion and began sketching vintage inspired clothing which was primarily evening gowns when I first started. I’m still very involved in the makeup industry and work on many Toronto based fashion sets.

When I first realized my new found passion, I was encouraged to pursue my dreams by close friends and family. While on a trip to Peru, visiting family,  I connected with a talented team and have been working with them ever since. I love the idea of infusing a little bit of homegrown talent with each piece I create.

FN: What’s next for Bijou?
A: While I’ll continue to design and create vintage inspired clothing for the seasons, the next big thing I’m working on is an all-natural beauty line, Beauty According To Ale.
