When we browse over Tumblr blogs we’re normally overwhelmed with all the beautiful photos of fashion, food and travels. It seems only natural that seeing these pictures would make us inclined to do some personal shopping! Some of our favorite companies are catching on to this pattern, and we’re starting to see some Tumblr pop-up shops testing the waters.
It all started with Made by Nike back in 2010, who teamed their Tumblr site up with the payment startup Stripe to try and sell over Tumblr. Since then companies have started looking into this new opportunity. Coexist Digital, a Portland firm, is looking into what the Tumblr/Stripe shopping experience is like. The verdict so far? “Wildly exciting!”
By using Stripe, brands would be able to have digital pop-up stores whenever they needed to run a promotion! Think of all the things brands could do during events like Fashion Week! They could sell limited-edition products right after they’ve shown on the runway.
The first brand to take its chances with Tumblr since Nike isn’t fashion though. It’s ice cream! Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams have their Tumblr account set to sell various selections, one of which is an $32 ice cream sandwhich collection (YUM!)
