London-based department store Harrods has redesigned it’s e-commerce website! Although it’s next to impossible to recreate the genuine awe that overcomes you when walking into the one million square foot store, a new and improved website is the next best thing for those of us overseas!
Any retailer that is known for being the place where you can buy anything your heart desires, obviously has a large product selection, which only means more options to search through while browsing it’s digital counterpart. The changes made to the site are meant to help improve just that process. First off, the homepage has been completely redesigned with parralax scrolling so each section continuously blends into one another which directly allows for easy browsing of the entire website. Info squares have also been added to the homepage informing customers of any sales going on, what products are recommended and links to their online magazine and The Review, where more editorial content can be found!
Harrods has also installed a favorites tool which now allows registered users to mark items they wish to keep in mind. You can literally get lost in the site as if you were in the actual store, so a tool like this is key. In order to keep your experience as personalized as possible, not only do the favorited items get added to your favorites page, they also appear first while browsing, allowing you to compare new items to ones you previously liked.
We think any attempt to making online shopping browsing simpler is worth making note of. It’s not that we don’t enjoy getting lost in Harrods (even if it is only through a computer screen) but if we’re going to spend hours on end browsing, we might as well have something to show for it at the end – these changes will help do just that! Let us know what you think of the new Harrods site @FASHIONOTES!
