Go Green: St.Patty’s Day Beauty & Style

By Contributor on March 17, 2012

Yes, there are fashionable ways to wear green this St.Patrick’s Day! Green is a challenging color – it’s vibrant, eye catching and not easily worn with other colors.  From makeup to clothing, we’ve assembled a variety of different looks featuring green from some top brands including Rimmel, Sally Hansen, Jack and Cocoa Jewelry that will make you want to go green.

First, our intrepid editors Stacey and Marni took the challenge of making green makeup work. We tested out three products from Rimmel: an eyeliner (Rimmel London Exaggerate Automatic Eye Definer in Emerald Sparkle, $6.99), an eye glistening pencil (Rimmel London Underground Eyeful Eye Glistener, $9.49) and an eyeshadow(Rimmel London Glam’Eyes HD Eyeshadow in Green Park, $7.49):

If you are afraid of green makeup, try these products! The colors are incredibly subtle and tasteful – emeralds and forest greens that compliment colors like gold and brown beautifully. The eye glistening pen is a must-have for any makeup kit, regardless of color. It’s soft, subtle and great for highlighting around the eyes.

As you can see, Marni used all three products to create a soft look that can be worn day or night (for night, be sure to add a bit more of the darker green for added emphasis). The green really complimented her light brown eyes and made them look even bigger! Stacey opted for an edgier look, lining her waterline with the Exaggerate Automatic Eye Definer that also made her eyes pop and created a mod makeup look.

We paired these wicked makeup looks with some jewelry from Cocoa Jewlry and clothing from Jack for added green oomph:

To complete your head to toe green transformation, don’t forget about nails! We tested out two Sally Hansen products: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Grass Slipper, $7.95 and Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat in Antiqued Gold, $6.95. Combine the two for the perfect ‘cracked’ look – a huge trend in nail art right now and an easy way to add interest to an otherwise ‘blah’ manicure! Don’t forget about Rimmel’s line of nail polishes too. Our favorite shade is Rimmel London Lasting Finish PRO in Rags to Riches, $4.99.
