With detailed embroidery, applique, beading and widespread texture, Naeem Khans’ Fall 2012 runway was laden with beautiful and intricate show stoppers. In an interview for Style.com he claims that, “It started with a dot”, referring to the bindi, a jewel worn on the forehead by indian women. With a color palette of blacks, nudes and the everlasting metallics‘, Khan transforms the basic coat and gown into exotic works of art.
The influence of  his heritage is clear with the recurrence of  paisley– a classic Indian print, as well as lots of mirrored detail and beading. From an appliqued skirt suit to a glammed up kaftan, the pièce de résistance by far was a full length gown with ostrich feather skirt and beaded top. I think we can definitely look forward to seeing a few of these red carpet worthy dresses in the upcoming Oscars.
