Were you wowed by the ever-so-lovely and ethereal gold and silver hair garlands at the Valentino Haute Couture show this week?
More discreet and down-to-earth than an actual garland of flowers, these fresh finds are sweet-yet-street enough to wear beyond the runway. And now you can create your own with a few simple tools!
What you’ll need:
- a necklace with charms
- oval or circular jumprings from your local craft store
- needle-nose pliers
- Style your hair with a part down the middle.
- Fasten at the nape of your necklace in a loose bun or chignon.
- Drape the necklace around the crown of your head and pinch together at the back.
- Holding the necklace together where it fit your head best, pull it off your head and mark the necklace where it fit you.
- Using the needle-nose pliers, loop the jumpring through the links on both ends of the necklace where you marked it.
- Squeeze the ends of the jumpring together until it’s fastened tight.
- (optional) Use the cutting edge in the middle of your pliers to cut the loose ends of the necklace away.
- Voila! A romantic but understated golden garland for your hair!
Failing the local craft store products, you could even fasten the ends of the necklace with a safety pin and we’ll call it quick-couture!
