Tied Up in 2011

A new year is upon us and, as the proverbial motto goes, ‘in with the new sartorial habit and out with the old’. Single-handedly one of the most important accessories for men, a tie says a lot about who you are as a person as much as it enhances your outfit. Wear the wrong tie and, well, you’ll be tied up with a slew of questions from the fashion mafia.

With a myriad of ties that saturate menswear each and every new season, what’s a fashionisto to do? Fret not, stylish one! The art of choosing which tie will suit you and your outfit is as easy as the choice between dry-cleaning a made-to-measure suit and putting it in the wash machine. If you chose the latter, I suggest you go to the nearest bookstore and immediately purchase a copy of the latest GQ or Esquire, for fear that you’ll be forever excommunicated by the fashion kingdom. But, we digress. As retailers and magazines alike all start to churn out the latest and greatest from the Spring/Summer 2011 season, FASHIONOTES has compiled a list of the top 5 groups of men and what ties they should be sporting this upcoming season. Read on and, please, whatever you do, don’t get tied up this 2011 with your questionable choices in ties!

All about Business

So you’re more of the 9 to 5, “I get paid to play God with other people’s money” type of guy. The man who’s as conservative in his personal life as he is in his style of dress. This spring, throw out those musty, solid-black and blue ties and go forth with a pop of color and pattern. Opt for these ‘power ties’ to go with that ‘power suit’ of yours.

For 2011, opt for the following dandy must-haves to go with your two-toned, collared button up and brogues.

Who ever said that a man couldn’t wear a tie outside of the office or gala? Be fearless and show them how it’s done this Spring 2011 with the ties below. Pair them with a dark denim button up, or this season’s reinterpretation of the baseball jacket. If you’re feeling a little bad-ass, try a tie with a leather jacket. Look cool and calm this season.
