Wow. Designers have been showing the unexpected in Milan! Blumarine sent pieces down the runway that had many an audience member glancing quizically at their neighbor. Where were the slinky bohemian dresses in animal prints? Where was the fringe and the sex appeal? Instead, there were simple, minimalistic pieces that looked like a fusion between Céline and Ralph Lauren. Skirts, trenches, and ribbed sweaters in neutral shades opened the show, which then broke out into a repetition of pieces in increasingly strong saturated colors. Emerald green, sunshine yellow, and mandarin. Eveningwear mimicked this color combination but was updated in lace. More than the clothes, we loved the beauty elements of the show. Models wore shiny, long, ironed hair and simple makeup that focused on a warm glow and sharply defined cheekbones. It was very fresh and very late-summer/early-autumn.
