Marc Jacobs Goes Drag for Industrie Magazine

By Sarah Kay on January 21, 2011

The full editorial is out of Marc Jacobs posing in drag for Industrie magazine! British fashion journalist and stylist Katie Grand styled personal friend and collaborator Marc Jacobs in her collection of his clothes for Industrie magazine.  This marks the magazine’s second issue, and was photographed by often name-dropped photographer Patrick Demarchellier.  Despite the long hair and feminine clothing, Marc’s facial and body hair remains on display, making this spread a total play on gender boundaries and identities.  We dig it.  Anything that pushes boundaries of acceptability and questions preconceived notions of gender is going to get our support!  So what exactly is being questioned here?  Is it about sexuality, and specifically, the perceived tie between homosexuality and femininity?  Is it about the clothing, questioning how we dress and why we choose to define ourselves in certain ways via our clothes?  Or is it simply fun, playing dressup in a friend’s closet?  What do you think?
